Dental Implants
Implants are an excellent way of restoring your dentition. A dental implant is a titanium insert that is placed into your jaw to replace a missing tooth or teeth. The implant then has an abutment screwed into it. After the healing phase a crown or bridge or overdenture is attached to the abutment(s). While the implants are integrating with your bone you will either have a temporary bridge, splint or denture.
Ken Place has a close partnership with maxillofacial surgeon Mr. Keith Jones and together they are responsible for your dental implant treatment at Features, Nottingham. They have been working together for 17 years.
At first, having an implant may seem daunting. However, we can put you in touch with patients who have had the treatment.
Implant Treatment
- Step 1
The first step is to have a consultation with Ken Place and Mr. Keith Jones. X-rays are taken to assess whether there is enough bone to place the implant(s). Also, this gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the procedure. - Step 2
Next you have the implants inserted. This is usually done under local anaesthetic and performed by Mr. Keith Jones. After the procedure a temporary bridge or denture is fitted. - Step 3
The implants need to integrate with the jaw bone. This takes approximately 6 months in the upper jaw and approximately 3 months in the lower jaw. During this period your implants will be monitored by Mr. Keith Jones. - Step 4
The final stage is to have the restorative dental work completed. This will involve several visits to us at Features to ensure that the fit, shape and colour are exactly right for you.
You can now enjoy your new teeth and feel confident when talking, eating and of course smiling!
